BBC World to air documentary on diabetes this week

IDF President Jean Claude Mbanya appears in the BBC film as a diabetes expert

Starting January 12, BBC World will broadcast a film showcasing the burden of diabetes in the developing world.

The half-hour documentary - titled Bittersweet - is being aired as part of the BBC’s Kill or Cure series.

Set in Nairobi, Kenya and Pune, India, the film shows how the South Asian subcontinent is facing a type 2 diabetes pandemic, while in Africa many countries struggle to put insulin within reach of people with type 1 diabetes.

The documentary also features International Diabetes Federation (IDF) President Jean Claude Mbanya as a diabetes expert.

Listed below are the UK times at which the film will be broadcast. The timings are intended to hit peak viewing times in each region of the world.

Tuesday, 12 January - 20:30 GMT
Wednesday, 13 January - 11:30 GMT (Asia Pacific only)
Thursday, 14 January - 15:30 GMT
Friday, 15 January - 02:30 GMT
